  • Career Planning & Personal Organization
  • Mathematics - changes, formulas, volume of tanks, volume of rooms, liters in a tank, calculating air velocity and CFM, angles & triangles.Layout Pattern - development, transitional duct angles other than 90 degrees, square throat transitional duct elbows, layout splitter vanes for change elbows, “S” offset – offset all four sides, “Y” branches, gutter meters and conductor heads, furnace boot elbows, twisted rectangular fitting, louvers, dampers.
  • Shop Work - power squaring shears, power roll forming machines, safety, taps and drills, power press brakes and dies, using press brakes.
  • Blueprint Reading, Sheet Metal Drafting & Sketching - isometric drawings, oblique drawings, symbols, parts of a blueprint, details of sections, duct systems, Architectural Sheet Metal.
  • Welding - equipment, use and care of.
  • Field Installation - hanging ducts, hanging units, sealing joints – high and medium pressure ducts, electric tools on the job, hanging gutter, boiler breaching, stacks, lagging.
  • Safety - electrical safety, first aid review, respiratory hazards, explosion hazards, noise pollution.
  • Materials - air filters, grease filters and traps, stainless steel, aluminum.
  • Blowpipe - blowpipe joints and seams, blowpipe design, blowpipe fittings, fans and blowers.
  • Architectural Sheet Metal - roofing, canopies, metal covered doors.
  • Residential Heating & Air Conditioning - typical residential duct, typical warm air furnace installations.
  • Service Work - fundamentals of air movement in ducts, trouble shooting warm air furnaces, customer relations.
  • Plastic & Fiberglass - introduction to plastics, plastics in the sheet metal trade
